I got this recipe from Daily Delicious. I believe that this is the first time I tried a recipe from her blog. I always see her updates and everything she bakes looks so professional, like it's from a bakery.
I enjoy baking bread more sometimes because it's healthier than cookies and cakes. But, I also despise how the temperature needs to be warm for the bread to rise quickly. I have to rely on my preheated oven, but I'm afraid of drying the dough out. I can't wait until the weather here is warmer.
I made this bread with packing it as lunch for my brother in mind, but he gets hungry easily eating the bread I make, so he prefers bakery bread. Also, my dad has a sweet tooth; so unless the bread I make is sweet, then I end up with bread stuck in the freezer. So I guess I'll be trying more sweet breads from now on.
Fresh from the oven, the bread tastes so soft and bakery-like. After one day, they still maintain the same freshness, although they become a bit drier. To resolve that, all you have to do is re-bake the bread for a few minutes. I only made 7 pieces of bread with this recipe because I wanted larger sized bread.
Braided Hot Dog Bread
Mix together the dry ingredients.
Pour milk in the bowl with the egg until it weighs around 220 grams.
Whisk the egg mixture and add it to the dry ingredients.
Mix together the ingredients.
It's actually not that sticky.
Proof until double in size.
Divide into balls. I originally made 9, but I later decided to combine some dough together.
This time I was able to make flower shaped buns! Unlike last time, when they turned out into caterpillars. The trick is to use more dough.
Let it rise, brush with egg wash and then sprinkle cheese on them.
Look at the texture. :)

ReplyDeleteI love the many shapes you make with your bread :) I made bread today too, only I mine didn't end up looking as good as yours as I was too lazy to shape mmine prettily...haha. I usually microwave my bread for a while the next day instead of baking...as I'm also too lazy to turn on the oven again- but it works perfectly :D

Esther, these are very well shaped buns! I guess it's always hard to keep bread soft the next day. I remember back in States, the weather is much drier and the bread tends to harden faster. It's best keep those uneaten bread in freezer and re-toast them when needed. :)

Von, I never though of using a microwave. I'll try that out with the bread one day. I microwave bread sticks from Little Caesars and store bought mantou, but I never tried doing that with homemade bread. Thanks for the suggestion! I actually just toast my bread in the toaster oven; I don't use the big oven because it's too big for one tiny bread. :D
Grub, Same here. It was sunny in CA, then now it's all cold and rainy. I've seen some buns with mayo and corn, sounds delicious. If I added corn kernels to the bread, my brother definitely wouldn't eat them though, lol. I'll try with my own. :)
Honey Bee Sweets, I feel so honored by your compliment because you're the bread master. Thank you also for the advice about how to store homemade bread and any bread in general. I never thought that the weather in the States would affect the duration of a bread's freshness.

Lena, Yup! I guess you can say that. I never thought of it like that, but now that I think about it I guess he is. One bread he doesn't like and won't try is the ham and cheese loaf bread that I make. He won't give it a try because it reminds him of the Chinese pullman loaf bread/tu si.
