Lemon and Matcha Marble Pound Cake and Award

I remember seeing this recipe for the first time and thinking, wow that's a lot of eggs! So, I halved the recipe and ended up with a short cake. It was very pretty and my brother rated it a 9. I reduced the sugar from 260 grams to 220 I didn't want to risk the texture, but I knew that Von's pound cake had less sugar so it would be fine. Next time, I will try further reducing the sugar.

This cake is relatively simple to make, you don't even need a mixer! I just did everything by hand. The texture was really nice. I didn't have humongous holes, maybe that's because hand mixing makes it harder to get holes.

But I tend to have a problem with marbling cakes! I don't marble them enough because I'm scared of mixing the batters into one shade of color. :/

I would like to thank Zoe from Bake for Happy Kids for this award. She also gave me the One Lovely Blog Award too. I feel very honored to be receiving awards from Lena and Zoe. Please visit her blog. Check out the amazing cupcakes she just baked for her son too! They're very cute. Also, I would like to give this award to the previous 15 bloggers I awarded the "One Lovely Blog Award". I'm going off to sleep now.

P.S. I baked this all the way back in February! I can't believe it's already the end of March already....how time flies.

  1. Hey girl! Man I've been terrible with blogging lately, hence all the catching up I need to do on your older posts! :D Been rather busy with work and training courses so I'm out of town a lot. This cake looks marvelous! I love lemon. And thanks for sharing the award, that's so sweet of you! Will have to write another post real soon :). Keep up the baking!

  4. Sharon, Hey! You sure sound very busy. I hope you aren't overworking yourself. What are you training for? :) I love lemon too, especially this lemon cupcake that my English teacher baked for everyone. Except I found out it was a box mix, so now it's my quest to find a recipe that gets results just like her cupcake. And you're welcome! You deserve this award because all your posts are interesting. I love your fashion posts, food posts, and inspirational posts. :D I can't wait to see your next post. Take care.

Honey Bee Sweets, Opps, I forgot to mention it, but I wasn't really able to taste the lemon flavor for some reason... Maybe it's because I left out the zest? and thank you. :)

Mary Moh, Aww, it would be so cool if we were neighbors. I always need some people to help eat my baked goods. I bake faster and more than I can eat. :D

  5. yeah, time flies when you're busy and i guess you must be really busy with your schoolwork. Hope you're fine with your studies and everything there. Nice to see that you're still able to bake and i think this pound cake has such unique combination. I think your marble looks good and it will be even better the next time you make it again!

  6. Nice to know your brother like this cake. Even nicer to know that this cake is easy to make. Agree that time files very quickly especially when everyone is busy with family, school or work.

  7. I do the same thing with my brother too! I ask him to rate my baking after he has tried them :p And your marbling looks good!

  8. Lena, Schoolwork right now is ok. I think it's getting better. :) More time to bake, but I also got a job now. I only go there twice a week though. I'm doing fine; thanks for asking. Yes, I'll definitely make it again. Right now I ran out of sour cream, so maybe i'll try yogurt instead.

Zoe, Sometimes I don't like it when time goes by so quickly. It's like, where did all that time go? Only a few more months till I graduate from high school! That's a scary thought.

Janine, Welcome to my blog. :) Thanks for dropping by. Having someone rate your food is really helpful. Hahaha, luckily most of the times I bake they turn out well, otherwise I wouldn't have a rater.
